Translating of the documents for further studies or after graduating

In most countries of the world (Russia is not an exception) there is a universal rule: the authorities accept only the documents which were issued in the state language of their country (in Russia the official language is Russian). It means that in any case you will need to translate into Russian your documents, including the documents on education.

However it is not obligatory to translate the documents before its legalization: the document can be translated before its legalization and after that it can be legalized together with the translation, or it is possible first to legalize the document without translating it and after that to translate the document in the country where you have received it or in the country of destination after your arrival there. The choice depends on the type of the document you certify (for example, the document on education or birth certificate) and on demands to the documents the authorities where you are going to present your papers have. Please pay your attention that in any case you have to certify notarially the translation of your document.

The general recommendations are:

1. If the document have to pass the procedure of the consular legalization, it is necessary to translate this document and to certify the translation notarially before presenting of this document to the consulate. Please be informed that most consular establishments refuse to legalize the documents if the translation of this document into state language of the establishments' country is not presented.

2. It is more convenient to stamp the "Apostille" on the document itself, without translation, as there will be no any difficulty to translate the document which has already passed apostilling. It is possible to translate the document both in the country which issued the document and in the country of destination.

That is just general information. Please clear up all the requirements of concrete establishments you are going to and try to fulfill them exactly: it will safe your time, efforts and money.
