The All-Russia Competition of Foreign Students and Postgraduate's Scientific and Creative Works: the I Round is over
Preliminary results of the All-Russia Competition of Foreign Students and Postgraduate's Scientific and Creative Works, which started on the 1st of February 2007, are summed up at Tomsk Polytechnic University. Over 160 applications from 45 universities of Russia were submitted to participate in the Competition. After the pre-selection round only 130 applications are left to compete. Among them there are 105 scientific and 25 creative works by foreign students from 37 counties of the world.
Best works sent to the Competition will be exhibited on the 10-11 May, 2007, in the International Cultural Center of Tomsk Polytechnic University. All the participants will be diplomaed and especially interesting works will win prizes by State Duma of Tomsk Region, Administration of Tomsk Region, Tomsk Municipal Administration and the Association of the Greek public communities of Russia.
Works, submitted to the Competition, are original scientific projects, dissertation and research works, scientific papers on actual topics in engineering, humanities, social sciences and economics, e.g. "Direct and mediate perception of other culture: basic contradictions", "Planning pollution-free high-octane engine fuel manufacturing", "Heavy aggregate concretes as a protection from radiation", "Academic adaptation of Chinese students of the preparatory faculty" etc.
The pre-selection round showed that Russian universities are preparing creative personalities, gifted students - those who can surprise and delight. Creative works, submitted to the Competition, are characterized by diversity and brilliance of performance. Poems ("An African in the Siberia"), essays ("Ecology and we"), papers and articles ("Balalaika: an embodiment of the Russian culture"), artistic photos by students ("Smiling", "Tomsk scenery") and even films ("Musing at Abel's grave") strike with originality of ideas and professional approach to their realization.
Everyone is welcome to visit the Exhibition on 10-11 May, 2007, and gain an impression of original works by foreign students that uncover creative and scientific potential of the representatives from all the continents of the world.
