A Week of cinema in Damascus
On October 1st a Week of the Russian cinema started in the Russian Cultural Center.
It is devoted to the 70th anniversary of Lydia Nikolayevna Fedoseyeva-Shukshina, one of the most popular actresses of the Soviet and Russian cinema. At the inauguration of the Week a film director Abdel Khamid Abdel Latyf presented a lecture about L.N. Shukshina. He spoke about her contribution into cinematic art and about the value of her creative work for creation and development of women's characters in the Syrian and Arabian cinema. Abdel Khamid Abdel Latyf is one of the most famous Syrian film directors. He studied in Moscow, in Russian State University of Cinematography named after S. Gerasimov.
During the Week Syrian in the Russian Cultural Center screen fans can see Russian films "Red Snowball tree", "Countess Sheremeteva", "They fought for the Motherland", "Prince Yuri Dolgoruky".
