An art exhibition in Brazzaville
On November 26th an exhibition of works of Congolese artists, who had studied in Soviet and Russian institutions of university lever higher education, was opened in the Russian center of science and culture in Brazzaville. The exhibition was organized by the Embassy in association with the Federation of artists of Congo. According to the intention of the organizers, the exhibition "To see in order to learn" has to promote development of the fine arts in the country.
The first counselor of the minister of culture and arts of Congo L.P.Mamonsono took part in the welcome ceremony. He thanked representatives of RCSC for strengthening Congolese-Russian cultural contacts. The director of the national Academy of fine arts Zh.Boloko, the chairman of the Federation of artists of Congo T.Uamassamuna, representatives of the diplomatic corps and artistic intelligentsia took part in the ceremony as well. The director of RCSC V.O.Chechin mentioned in his welcoming speech, that the language of arts was universal means of association and was able to bring together peoples living on different continents.
About 30 pictures are presented at the exhibition. They were created by Congolese artists both in Russia and in Congo, so the Congolese journalists who were present at the event divided the pictures into two periods - "white" and "black". During the welcome ceremony V.O.Chechin and Congolese artists gave interviews to local mass media.
