Model UN Opens at Moscow State Institute of International Relations
The annual youth conference Moscow International Model United Nations (MIMUN) opened April 12 at Moscow State Institute of International Relations.
Model United Nations is an international educational project consisting of a great number of worldwide annual conferences. Young people from different countries come together to discuss issues on the agenda of the real United Nations Organisation. Trying on the role of an ambassador to the UN they acquire valuable skills and knowledge during discussions regulated by the UN rules of procedure. By participating in the conference every delegate makes his or her own contribution to resolution of international problems.
MUN is a dynamic and tight-knit team of internationally-minded students - prospective diplomats who long to know more than news and university lectures can tell you about the current international situation. MIMUN Secretariat is a group of able and hardworking students of different schools and years, who know for sure that university life does not necessarily include only classes and home assignments but it gives plenty of other opportunities.
MUN is a worldwide student network that unites more than 100 000 participants all around the world. MIMUN attracts more than 500 students every year and gives them an opportunity to become an ambassador to the UN for 5 days. Model UN is a forum for future leaders, it is a conference that broadens your international scope. Moreover, we have partner-MUNs in Europe and Asia that welcome our delegations and, reciprocally, participate in MIMUN.
MIMUN is a combination of a conference and a role play, with the work of a variety of UN committees being simulated simultaneously at MGIMO-University in Moscow, Russia. Some of the committees have English as an official working language, others function in Russian, both of the languages being UN official. Every participant is representing a country, defending and promoting its interests by means of UN rules of procedure and other ways of diplomacy.
The event will conclude April 16.
