FISU international training centre presented in Kazan
On 16 to 19 June, an international conference dealing with student sports movement development, "Sport.Education.Culture", will take place in Kazan.
The International University Sports Federation chiefs and executive committee members will participate.
The purpose is to explore the international and domestic experience of student sports management, debate the main trends of the world university sports development, as well as issues related to training qualified personnel, engaged in running international student sports and educational programmes.
Other expected attendees are presidents of national university sports federations, chiefs of and representatives from FISU continental associations, Russian and Tatarstan governments, Russian Olympic Committee, Russian Ministry of Sport, Tourism and Youth Policy, Russian Ministry of Education and Science, as well as leading sport experts and outstanding athletes. The total expected visitors are 100-150.
The conference' main session will take place on 17 June and be attended by FISU president George Killian, Tatarstan executives, Russian Olympic Committee chief Marat Bariev and Russian Student Sports Union president Oleg Matytsin. The conference is reported to plan to discuss issues related to developing the legislative, organisational, administrative, economic and informational foundations of student sports and interaction between the national, continental and international student sports organisations. A separate subject will be the experience of managing the World Student Games.
One of the most anticipated events will be a presentation of a FISU international training centre, scheduled for 18 June. The centre is an innovative project on training qualified personnel for world student sports and consultation support of large student sports projects. The memorandum of understanding on establishing the centre was signed on 30 June 2010.
Besides, the Russian Student Sports Union and Eurasian Association of Universities will sign a cooperation agreement.
The agenda includes tours of 2013 Universiade sports facilities and attending the Russian student beach volleyball championship. The conference is sponsored by the International University Sports Federation, the Kazan 2013 executive directorate's press service reports.
