Russkiy Mir Cabinet Opens in Buenos Aires
Grand opening of a Russkiy Mir Cabinet took place on September 28 at Nasha Rus and Slavyanka associations in Buenos Aires. The collection comprises the works of Russian classics, historians, modern writers and children's books.
This is the second Russkiy Mir Cabinet in Argentina. The first opened in Mar del Plata on the basis of a Russkiy Mir center of culture.
The red ribbon was cut by metropolitan of Argentina and South America Platon, Secretary of Russian Embassy in Argentina, Sergey Parkhomenko, Chairman of Coordination Committee of Russian Compatriots in Argentina, Leonid Shevchuk, Chairman of Our Rus Center of Culture, Science and Technologies, Sergey Tolkachev.
Says Alina Kashina, one of the young activists: "I was born in Argentina; my Russian Mom taught me first Russian words. It was difficult but then real help came to us and I am happy and thankful to Russkiy Mir Foundation for a chance to study the history of Russia with my friends, read Russian books and speak Russian correctly."
