Russian Far Eastern Federal University will enhance scientific and educational cooperation with Vietnam
A working visit by a Russian delegation representing Far East Federal University to Vietnam will take place from May, 28 to June, 8 2012. The visit program includes a meeting with Mr. Bui Van Ga, deputy Minister of Education of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, as well as the signing of the agreement on scientific and educational cooperation with Vietnam's leading universities.
As part of the visit FEFU's delegation headed by Andrey Babko, FEFU's Vice-President for international affairs, will meet representatives from leading educational institutions of such Vietnam's cities as Hanoi, Da Nang, Nha Trang, Ho Chi Minh, and Tay Do.
In Hanoi FEFU's delegation will meet Mr. Bui van Ga, deputy Minister of Education, to reach accords on the strategic cooperation in the spheres of science and education. The process of cooperation with Vietnam's universities will include signing agreements on developing joint educational programs, scientific research, and academic exchanges. Besides, there is a planned visit to Vietsovpetro company, a Russian-Vietnamese oil joint venture, in the city of Vung Tau, as well as negotiations on scientific cooperation in the spheres of implementing high-performance technologies for the extraction, transportation and processing of energy resources, and on the development of chemical and nanotechnologies.
During the visit FEFU's delegation will set up new agreements and renew the existing ones. In 2011, for example, an agreement was made with Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry on language internships, exchange programs and the development of academic mobility. Currently joint language internship programs that enable students from both countries to practice the language of the hosting country are being actively realized in cooperation with Hanoi University of Science and Technology. FEFU has built up partnerships with Da Nang University in the sphere of machine building and nanotechnologies. Since December 2011 joint effort and research on APR's developing foodstuffs from animal and vegetable-based foodstuffs has been done in cooperation with Nha Trand University.
The visit has been organized with the support of the Consulate General of Vietnam in Vladivostok with which FEFU has been cooperating since 2000 when Vietnam culture and education center was opened on the basis of the University. The purpose of the center is to develop all-round cooperation between the peoples of Russia and Vietnam.
Far Eastern Federal University is one of the federal universities which are to form the elite of the Russian higher education. FEFU was established under a decree of Russia's President in October, 2009 on the basis of four leading universities of the Far East having a history of more than 120 years. FEFU's development strategy includes the creation of an internationally recognized science and education center to represent Russia in Asia-Pacific region. The university's priority development programs are "World ocean resources", "Energy resources and energy-saving technologies", "Nano-systems and nano-materials industry", "Transportation and logistics", "Russia's interaction with APR countries", and "Biomedicine"
The unique educational environment that is being created on Russky Island (the city of Vladivostok) will provide students and the people of Primorsky Region with ideal opportunities for studying and making the most of their creative potential. The new FEFU campus will open its doors immediately after the finish of the APEC Summit which is to be hosted here in September, 2012.
