First All-Russia Language and Literature Teachers Congress Opens in Moscow
The First All-Russia Congress of Russian Language and Literature Teachers opened in Moscow at the Fundamental Library of Moscow State University on July 4. The Russkiy Mir Foundation is a general partner of the event. More than 1000 delegates from 71 of Russia's regions and the CIS are taking part: teachers from public schools, lyceums and gymnasiums as well as institutions of higher education.
The main objective of the congress is to form a modern discussion platform for Russian teachers, initiate on open discussion of the most pressing issues concerning the teaching of Russian language and literature in school, the creation of a broad social network for teachers and the sharing of teaching experience.
The forum includes a series of roundtable, plenary meetings and thematic sessions as well as an exhibit of teaching and methodological literature from Russia's leading publishing houses and a presentation of computer programs for school curriculum. In partnership with the State Pushkin Museum, the participants will be provided the opportunity to take excursions to the museums of such writers as Alexander Pushkin, Ivan Turgenev and Andrei Bely.
