A scientist from the University of Sao Paulo will continue his scientific work in quantum field theory at TSU

31.07.2015 09:46

In July, Tomsk State University met Thiago Adorno, a representative of the University of Sao Paulo. This is the first Brazilian scientist to come to a post-doctorate programme at TSU. Thiago Adorno will spend three years in Tomsk. He will work in the laboratory of the Quantum Theory of Intensive Fields together with TSU theoretical physicists.

- At the University of Sao Paulo, I worked in collaboration with Tomsk professor Dmitry Gitman, one of the leading specialists in the field of quantum electrodynamics. I began to work on this theme under his guidance - says the Brazilian physicist. - It was Professor Gitman who suggested that I continue collaborative work in Tomsk, and that's how I came here.

The postdoc from Brazil is a specialist in quantum field theory, in particular in nonlinear electrodynamic and particle creation from a vacuum by strong external electromagnetic fields. Thiago Adorno earned his PhD at the University of Sao Paulo and has about 10 publications in scientific journals with the highest impact factors in elementary particle and field theory, such as Physical Review D, Physics Letters B, European Physics Journal C, and others.

- At Tomsk State University, I can continue the study in conjunction with the Tomsk scientists. I will write research papers and participate in conferences - said Thiago Adorno. - I hope that with my research and scientific activity I can confirm the opportunity that Tomsk State University has given me and increase TSU's popularity in the world.

- The another reason for my visit to Tomsk was the Russian language. Now when Russia and Brazil are establishing relationships, it is important to learn the Russian language. In addition, it will greatly facilitate my stay in your country. I hope that in the first year, I will learn it at a decent level. I have a lot of plans for productive work - adds Tiago Adorno. - I am sure that in Tomsk, where I have been met in such a friendly way, I can reach a new scientific level.
