New developments make it easier to enter Lobachevsky University

23.11.2015 11:43

Russian Academic Excellence Project 5-100 saw Lobachevsky University entering the education market in Latin America in 2014. Now the university has students from Bolivia, Brazil, Venezuela, Honduras, Colombia, Cuba, Mexico, Nicaragua, Peru and Ecuador.

A delegation of Lobachevsky University led by Alexander Bedny, Vice-Rector for International Affairs and Dean of the Faculty for International Students, visited Lima, the capital of the Republic of Peru, on the invitation of Latin American-Russian Association for Higher Education ALAR from October 29 to November 3. The delegation took part in the 2nd International Graduate Scholarship Fair (2 Feria International de Beca de Posgrado: Presidente de la Republica). A broad variety of areas and the wide range of academic programmes offered at Lobachevsky University caught the interest of prospective students. The three days of the fair gathered over 500 prospective candidates at the booth! They shown interest in both English taught and Russian taught courses.

To make it easier to enter Lobachevsky University, the delegation discussed scholarship options with the Peru office of Russian Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo) and held working meetings with the director and staff of ALAR head office and offices across Latin America, including those in Mexico, Bolivia, Colombia and Ecuador. Lobachevsky University and ALAR are planning to launch Russian language programmes for applicants to Lobachevsky University in ALAR offices in their home countries. Teachers will use methods developed by academics at Lobachevsky University.
