BUCEL meets XVII International Students' Festival of Culinary and Table Art "ECO-Culinary"

On October 18, Belgorod University of Cooperation, Economics and Law held the XVII International Students' Festival of Culinary and Table Art. The students' festival of culinary and table art has been an annual event at the University since 2006. This year the Festival was devoted to the Year of Ecology in Russia so it took the name "ECO-Culinary".

Students' teams from Russian higher and secondary educational institutions, Damascus State University, Mogilev State University of Food Technologies took part in the Festival's competition program.

The Festival opening ceremony started from the salutary words to the participants made by V.K. Zubov, the Head of the Consumer Market Division under the Department of Economic Development of Belgorod Region, and A.V. Isaenko, the Dean of Public Catering and Goods Expertise Faculty.

Each team presented its exposition, which included a theme serving or culinary products such as a banquet dish, a composition comprising no fewer than three dishes satisfying the banquet demands of serving and the composition containing confectionary products.

Students from Syria, Egypt, Jordan and Palestine performed their culinary masterpieces.

The Festival involved a number of master classes on preparing culinary products and dishes from Japanese, Eastern and Italian cuisines. Master classes "Traditional dishes of Eastern Cuisine" were held by the delegates of Damascus State University and the students of preparatory faculties of Belgorod Region universities (Morocco, Syria, Egypt).

The Festival was accompanied with an eventful entertaining program and turned to be a memorable holiday of culinary art and creative cooperation of future professionals of public catering and service.

The closing ceremony of the Festival included speeches of appreciation and gratitude addressed to the organizers and participants for the great opportunity to be acquainted with the newest trends in culinary art, serving and traditions of foreign countries that took part at the Festival. All the participants were awarded with certificates of appreciation, letters of acknowledgement and sweet prizes.

In spite of the extremely tight time limits for the Festival, many of its participants managed to establish business and friendly partnerships, to exchange their experience and to map out a plan of further work. The representatives of all participating countries expressed their readiness to take part in the Festival next year.
