It brought together 40 secondary school students from Pacific Rim countries, from the USA, South Korea, China, Vietnam and Russia. The first Pacific Children's Forum began on May 10. It brought together 40 secondary school students from Pacific Rim countries, from the USA, South Korea, China, Vietnam and Russia. Pacific Children's Forum, held from May 10 to May 15, has begun in Vladivostok. Students from the Pacific Rim countries who know Russian and are 14 to 17 years old were invited to participate in the forum. The main goal of the forum is to expose Pacific Rim students to Russian culture and Russian language. The forum is also used to determine the winners of the projects' competition, oriented to popularization Russian language and Russian culture abroad. At the end of the forum a "Children of Russian World" club will be established, in which pupils will have an opportunity to communicate, become friends, and better learn about each other's different lifestyles, language and culture. Furthermore, the organizers are sure that such communication will help improve relations between neighboring countries of the Pacific Rim. The unique character of the event is that it provides a chance to secondary school students from all over the Pacific Rim to speak Russian in Vladivostok - the Asian capital of Russia. This trip to Russia will be fascinating and undoubtedly memorable for children from different countries. The organizers sincerely hope that a love and respect for Russia and Russian culture introduced at a young age will facilitate the development of the capital of Primorsky krai as a concentrated center for talented youth from all over the Pacific Rim. The forum is held by a noncommercial partnership of the "Model United Nations of the Russian Far East" with the assistance of Russkiy Mir Foundation and Far Eastern Federal University. An opening of the 1st International tournament in mini-football called "Buddhist People's Cup "White Lotus" took place in Elista on May 1st. 8 teams from Mongolia, Laos, Sri-Lanka, and regions or Russia - Buryatia, Tyva, Altai, participated in the tournament. Kalmykia was represented by 2 teams - students of Kalmyk State University and Moscow Association of Kalmyk Students. The tournament was organized by the Kalmyk social organization supporting relations with compatriots called "Jungar", with the help of the Central Temple "Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni" and Government of the Republic of Kalmykia. The tournament was opened by special guests: Head of the Republic of Kalmykia Aleksey Orlov, Shadzhin-lama of the Republic of Kalmykia Telo Tulku Rinpoche, famous buddhologist, professor of the Columbian University Robert Thurman. "We are open to everyone! Welcome! - exclaimed Shadzhin-lama, - Good luck to the participants!" Head of the region Aleksey Orlov pointed out that the Buddhist Cup tournament is only a beginning of a long way to reunion, and that no one will lose as everyone wins in friendship, brotherhood and unity of the nations. On the second day of the tournament participants met the students and the rector of KalmSU Badma Salaev. The meeting turned out to be warm and informal and lasted over 2 hours instead of the planned 1. Rector greeted the participants and told them about the life of the University. Kalmyk students asked questions about Buddhism, student society and friendship between our nations.  Despite the distance and difference between our cultures, all participants felt comfortable and sincerely admired Kalmykia and Kalmyk people. Guests from Buratiya even sang a song in their native language. After the meeting, all teams were presented with a documentary about the life and history of KalmSU. On May 3rd, the final game and closing of the tournament took place. In the final match between Mongolia and KalmSU the home team became winners. Mongolian team took a second place. Third place went to the team of Moscow Association of Kalmyk Students. The team captains thanked the committee of the sporting event for the great time and the opportunity to communicate with each other. The model simulated the activities of UN basic institutions; its participants discuss the major issues of world politics. Participation in the business game is the first step to a successful career for future diplomats and experts in the field of international relations. This year foreign students were able to take part in the activities of the UN Council on Human Rights, the Security Council and International Court of Justice. The working languages of the meeting were Russian, English and French. Agenda included the important issues discussed in the real UN. For example, the Human Rights Council debated on the subject of human rights abuses in the occupied Palestinian territories, the Security Council discussed the reconciliation process in Cote d'Ivoire, and the International Court of Justice analyzed the process of breach of contract between Argentina and Uruguay in 1975 - the construction of pulp mills on the Uruguay River. As the result of the discussions the best abstracts of the talks and ideas on how to address the discussed issues will be sent to UN headquarters in New York. FIS students have been participating in the Nizhny Novgorod Model United Nations since 2011. Among students it is better known as "ice (snow) football", as the game takes place right in the snow! Due to the unusual conditions of the game victory in this championship is considered very prestigious. Multinational team of the Faculty for International Students at UNN is one of the leaders of this competition. It wins medals in this competition for the third year in a row, and in 2011 the team became the undisputed champion of the tournament. Congratulations to all players!
