Other pictures of the Valley
Kamchatka is famous for the Valley of geysers, a place unique for Russia. It seems to a person, arriving here, that it is another world. Mud pots boil; fountains of hot water erupt from under the ground, steam columns rise as high as 300 meters. Even the ground underfoot is not the same colour as we got used to see. Thermophilic plants and bacteria living in hot water painted hills and slopes of the Valley in unusual colors. The valley surprises in any case - even in the places where it does not boil and bobble.
There are about forty large geysers in the valley. Some of them have their own names. Velikan (Giant), Zhemchuzhny (Pearly), Sakharny (Sugary) - are among them. Some of them gush forth every ten minutes, others gush forth one time during a few hours. The temperature of the water reaches 98 degrees. One of the geysers is named "Vorota Ada". (Gate of Hell). Mysterious underground noise is heard from the deep of this geyser. Last year when mud stream covered a part of the valley, scientists did not know what would be with the Valley. How to restore this unique place? But the valley revived itself, without any help. Geysers broke through the mudflow. And in the place, where the mud stream blocked the river, a lake of amazing beauty appeared.
The valley hid in a narrow canyon, one can get there only by helicopter. It is planned to install video cameras in the valley of geysers and to broadcast the pictures on Internet; and a great number of people all over the world will be able to see this unique place.
It is possible to hear the breath of the Earth here. This place has been studied since its discovery. However, the valley is still full of secrets and mysteries. The processes occurring in the valley of geysers now, resemble processes that occurred on the globe millions of years ago.
