Bryansk is the center of Bryansk region. It is situated on the both banks of the river Desna. After establishing Bryansk region in 1944 the city finally received the status of the regional center.
Bryansk is located at a distance of 379 km to the southwest from
Moscow. It is the largest center of the non-chernozem zone.
