Orenburg is a city in Russia, the administrative center of Orenburg region. The population is about 538,6 thousand people. The city is located on the river Ural, near the confluence of the river Sakmara in it, at a distance of 1468 km from Moscow.
Orenburg is a large railway junction (lines to Samara, Orsk, Aktobe). In January 2007 after long reconstruction the repaired building of the city railway station of the area of 4100 sq.m was opened. Orenburg has two aerodromes: the military aerodrome Orenburg-Yuzhny (Southern), and the civil airport "Nezhinka". The airline "Orenburg airlines" is based there.
Jury Alekseyevich Gagarin, who made the first piloted flight into space trained in Orenburg flying school.
There are 24 bus and 4 trolleybus routes in the city. The extension of bus routes is 380 km. The system of fixed-route taxis is developed.
