The official nonworking holidays in the Russian Federation are:
January 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 - New Year's holidays; January 7 - Christmas; February 23 - Motherland Defender's Day; March 8 - International Women's Day; May 1 - Holiday of Spring and Labour; May 9 - Victory Day; June 12 - the Day of Russia; November 4 - Peoples Unity Day.
In Russia there is a day off transfer practice in case if the day off clashes with the nonworking holiday. The decision about the a day off transfer is made by the Government of the Russian Federation. |
According to the Resolution # 512 of the Russian Federation Government dated 11.18.2007 the following bank holidays are carried over in 2008:
- from Sunday, May 4, to Friday, May 2,
thus Thursday, May 1, Friday, May 2, and Saturday, May 3 are holidays, Sunday, May 4, is a working day,
- from Saturday, June 7, to Friday, June 13,
thus Saturday, June 7 is a working day and Friday, June 13 is a holiday;
- from Saturday, November 1 to Monday, November 3,
thus Saturday, November 1 is a working day, Monday, November 3 is a holiday.
