COURSE DESCRIPTION
The course aims to improve the learners' skills in Russian language and knowledge and understanding of Russian mentality. It includes an intensive 60-hour Russian language course and additional lectures (both in Russian and in English) on Russian history, literature, culture, and society. The programme also includes a regional studies component, with lectures and events focusing on the history and culture of the Russian South and its ethnic groups, including Cossacks, Armenians, Poles, Jews, Tatars, etc. The classes are arranged according to the learners' level of Russian.
OUR TEACHING STAFF
Course participants will be able to benefit from the expertise and knowledge of the University's teaching staff. The courses are taught by Southern Federal University teachers. Additional lectures on Russian history, society and culture are to be given by SFedU subject experts in the field of Russian studies.
ACCOMPANYING PROGRAMME
There is a cultural programme which is an integral part of the course. The participants will have a unique chance to enjoy one of the most multicultural regions in Russia with more than 100 nationalities and ethnic groups living together. The excursion programme includes Russian culture-related sightseeing attractions: the city of Taganrog, the historic Cossack capital Novocherkassk, Azov Museum of Local Lore, the historic town of Starocherkassk, Tanais Archaeological Reserve Museum, Cossack ethnic settlement of Razdory, ethnic minority cultural organizations of the Rostov Region.
RUSSIAN LANGUAGE COURSE LEVELS
Beginner:
- Complex practical studies: phonetics and intonation, speech practice, grammar, vocabulary;
- Studies with the use of audiovisual materials and educational computer programmes: speech practice, vocabulary, grammar.
Intermediate:
- Adaptation study course-complex studies: phonetics and intonation, speech practice, grammar, vocabulary;
- Speech practice;
- Practical grammar;
- Audiovisual speech course.
Advanced:
- Speech practice;
- Practical grammar;
- Audiovisual speech course;
- Artistic Text/Newspaper Text;
- Optional course by choice: Russian Phraseology, Paronyms in the Russian Language; Lexical and Semantic innovations in the modern Russian Language.
COURSE CERTIFICATE
Course certificates and a maximum of 5 academic credits are awarded upon successful completion of the summer school.
COURSE FEE
The course participation fee is ˆ600. It includes: tuition, accommodation, meals, transfer, excursions, and a show of national cuisine.
