Activity of the Alumni Association
There are over three thousand Soviet and Russian HE institutions' alumni in Senegal. Some of them hold high positions in the government, for example, the Minister for Civil Service, Labor, Employment and Professional Organizations Ero De and Minster-Delegate under the Minster for Pedagogy Ibraim Fal. Others have become renowned Senegalese scholars, public figures, celebrities in art and culture, teachers, leading experts in economy, the country's representatives in international organizations and successful businessmen. The most active alumni have already joined the Association of HE institutions' alumni in Senegal which currently boasts about 200 members.
The Bureau, elected at the general meeting, coordinates the Assembly's activity. It is headed by Demba Ba - an alumnus and former post-graduate student of the Peoples' Friendship University, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Manager of a key department at the Ministry for Economy and Finance.
The Association plans to revitalize the activity of the Soyuz cooperative club set up several years ago by its Economic Interests Initiative Group. The Soviet HE institutions' alumni train informatics experts on the Club's basis. The Association views the establishment of stable business contacts with Russian entrepreneurs as a rather promising stream of activity.
