Activities of the Association
The INSAN NAUKA alumni Association was created on June 9, 2001. Not all 3,000 Indonesian alumni are its members as it is impossible to make a full list of them. With many currently residing in other countries, the Association is trying to get in touch with them.
Most alumni are not retired yet and continue to work both at government organizations and the private sector. Those in the public sector hold high positions: there are deputy ministers - the MADI and the Kiev Polytechnic Institute's alumni, top leaders in education, for example, university and institute rectors, faculty members with some of them about to get the titles of full professors. There are also members of Parliament. The alumni who opted for the private sector are successful businessmen now. The organization is registered with the Embassy of Indonesia in Moscow and the Embassy of Russia in Indonesia.
A Foundation to organize events in the field of education and address some social issues was set up with G. Suradji, a Leningrad alumnus, as its head. It plans to engage some Russian HE institutions in the joint efforts to raise the standard of higher education in Indonesia.
The Association was instrumental in setting up the Indonesia-Russia Friendship Society officially recognized by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Indonesia. It made a significant contribution to the creation of the Russia Section under the Chamber of Commerce of Indonesia.
