The activity of the Finnish Association of Individuals Trained in the Soviet Union and Russia
The Association of Individuals Trained in the Soviet Union and Russia was founded on November 14, 1979. Prior to February 1, 2003 it was called the Association of Soviet HE institutions' alumni.
The Association - the only league of Soviet and Russian HE institutions' alumni in Finland - has no local or regional branch offices not does it get any public funding. It boasts a cultural section and the Kinoglaz (Cinema Eye) club. The Association's leadership is elected by the annual meeting for a period of one year. There are 6 persons on its Board, including Sirkka-Liisa Lindquist - the former longstanding Chairperson of the Association and INCORVUZ President. The Association boasts of about 200 members including foreign nationals trained in the USSR or Russia who currently reside in Finland (as allowed by the Charter).
In compliance with the Charter, the Association "provides assistance to its members in getting further training and acts as their attorney and advocate of their common interests related to education and professional activity". To this end, "the Association acts as an intermediary in issues related to opportunities for its members to get training in Russia and dissemination of information on such opportunities. It arranges lectures, seminars and meetings for its members on further vocational education as well as study trips and other events in Finland and Russia".
