The national currency of the Russian Federation is rouble equal to 100 kopecks. In circulations there are the coins with a face value of 1, 5, 10, 50 kopecks, and 1, 2, 5, and 10 roubles and also bank-papers with a face value of 10, 50, 100, 500, 1000 and 5000 roubles. It is possible to exchange dollars and euros almost everywhere in banks, and in exchange offices in the city, hotels, supermarkets, railway stations and airports. The working hours of commercial banks in Russia usually are from 9.30 till 19.00-21.00 on weekdays, of the State Savings bank departments are from 9.30 till 19.30, but usually the State Savings bank rate is a little lower than that of other banks. On Saturdays certain banks work till 13.00-14.00, as for the State savings bank departments - they work till 16.00-17.00. Credit cards and traveler's cheques are not accepted everywhere, though the holders of MasterCard, Visa, VisaElectron can use the numerous cash dispensers, other cards are accepted selectively. For cashing cheques usually commission charges of 2-3 % are collected. It is possible to transmit money through TT, Western Union, Money Gram. |
