It is allowed to bring into Russia free of duty goods not meant for sale, the total cost of which does not exceed 65 thousand rubles, and the total weight of which does not exceed 35 kg. Precious jewelries one should enter in the declaration and go through "Red corridor" to pass Custom inspection. In other cases arrivals go through "Green corridor". A foreign citizen is allowed to bring in and to take out of Russia money in cash (traveller's cheques), if their total amount in equivalent do not exceed 10 thousand US dollars at the rate of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation for the date of bringing in or taking out, but at the same time all cash money ere entered in the custom declaration. The sum less than 3 thousand US dollars (in any currency) is permitted not to be declared.

For taking out from Russia bought original items of art of no cultural value for Russia the document under hand and seal proving the official purchase by the certificated by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation antiques shop. Icons, musical instruments, paintings, sculptures, , antique coins, orders, medals stamps and other period pieces more than 50 years old are permitted for exportation on the basis of a certificate issued by the Minister of Culture of Russia on production of a customs declaration in support of importation of the above articles; otherwise exportation of these pieces is banned. The exportation of medicines is restricted as well. Memorial coins of Russia of precious metals are banned to take out without a special permission of the Central Bank of Russia, exportation of other coins is restricted.

Also the exportation of products from fish and crustacean is restricted. Sturgeon caviar (in factory packing) can be exported in quantity not more than 125 g per man, but be informed that the purchase of sturgeon caviar is officially banned within the Russian Federation territory from 01.08.2007. To avoid any problems with exportation of jewelries it is better to declare them when entering and to keep the declaration in order to produce it to an inspector at the custom inspection. When crossing the borders of the Russian Federation by car one is allowed to bring in petrol only in the vehicle petrol bank.
