The history of St. Petersburg State Electrotechnical University "LETI" dates back to the year of 1886 when it was founded. The first Rector elected was the inventor of radio A. S. Popov.

At present LETI hosts more than 10 000 students and post-graduate students from Russia as well as students from around fifty CIS and non-CIS countries. A wide variety of majors in radio engineering, telecommunication, electrical engineering, electronics, IT, solid state physics and science of materials goes along with humanities, economic and management majors.

FOUNDATION COURSE DIVISION OF PRE-UNIVERSITY PREPARATION CENTRE

Offers classes in: Russian as a foreign language; Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Engineering Graphics in Russian, which are taught in compliance with the standards of the secondary school curriculum. Those who successfully complete the preparatory training and pass the interview are then enrolled in the program chosen as 1st year students.

The training is offered in groups of 8-10 persons starting October, 1 till June, 30 (total of nine calendar months) with an average of 5-6 days per week, 6 hours per day.

ADMISSION REGULATIONS FOR FOREIGN STUDENTS

A foreign citizen who wishes to enter ETU should to complete the following steps:
1. Choose a major, Fill out an Application Form on University website http://www.eltech.ru/english/admission/appform.htm Send it to the International Students Department via e-mail at fordep@eltech.ru or by fax +7(812) 234 35 53.
2. After receiving a confirmation one should order an invitation for Russian Federation entrance visa, which requires following documents also sent to the International Students Department via e-mail at fordep@eltech.ru or by fax +7(812) 234 35 53

Copy of national passport;

Copies of previous educational background certificates ;

Personal information (if possible, please state in Russian):

first name;

last name, permanent place of residence (state, city);

place of Russian visa issue (state, city).

It takes no less than 45 days to prepare an 'Invitation'.
